Abstract

Since saving money and time represent the main considerations in production processes in large companies, there is always a need for alternative plans to overcome the stopping obstacles. The damage to the spur gear; which is an engineering part that transfers the motion from one shaft to the other, leads to work stopping and that needs instant to solve such as fixing or replacing it with a spare part. In case there are no spare parts, spur gear with 57 teeth was created by using a conventional lathe and mill as well as the AutoCAD program without using a 57 holes' plate. The brown and Sharpe indexing head has been employed for teething a gear with many teeth allowed to by Cincinnati indexing head only. After that, reliability, dimensional and visual inspections were performed on the product for evaluating its precision and performance. The results showed that the spur gear was manufactured accurately and the gear has been working in its gearbox for more than four years.
