Abstract

In this study, aluminium 8011 metal was machined by wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) and the effect of working parameter on the surface roughness is explained. Here, the L9 orthogonal array is used for the optimization process and pulse on-time, pulse off-time, wire tension, open circuit volts, are the control factors for experimentation. The parametric analysis on the considered response surface roughness has been performed. Surface finish achievable through this strategy for various experiments has been quantified and reported. It was found that pulse on-time is the major influencing factor for the surface roughness on the working material during the machining operation.
