Study on Effectiveness of Tungsten Carbide Tools Using Taguchi and ANOVA

The longer life of the cutting tool depends on various factors like machine tools used, cutting conditions, work piece material hardness etc. In the present an experimental investigation has been made to study the influence of cutting tools over multiple performance characteristics. The experiments were performed on SS316 which has good machinability and corrosion resistance. Taguchi’s standard L18 OA has been selected and the experimental responses obtained were analysed using taguchi method followed by Analysis of variance. The results revealed that depth of cut and feed are the most influencing factors for material removal rate and surface roughness respectively.
