Abstract

With the inventions of different mobile technologies, people can handle multiple tasks through their mobile phones. Many people prefer personal smartphones over big computer systems for small tasks. Because of this, providing services to aspiring mobile users with their native mobile application is very important. This study aims to develop an Android Application for the library for the benefit of the students, research scholars and faculty members of a college.  Automation of the library helps you access the resources from remote access. This increases access to books, journals, lab manuals, notes, research papers, articles, previous years' question papers etc. Most of the goals of the library can be fulfilled through this app. With this, we have tried to convert the physical library into an online library where we are providing all study materials in soft copies over the mobile application with the name "JCE e-Library".

JCE e-Library, an android application, is developed to provide all the study materials to students directly on their mobile phones. This app contains an authorized books section, journal section, question paper section and manual section. All documents are available in pdf format which students can download on their mobile phones for future offline reference. This application requires authentication which permits only authorized students to access the materials and restricts any unauthorized users. This application also contains links to many external resources.

This application is built using java, XML and android studio framework and uses firebase as a database for storage of data. Firebase is cloud storage that can be accessed from any part of the world through our application. The app is compatible with versions from android version 5(Lollipop) to the latest version 12. The app is responsive to different mobile screens and it is published on the Amazon App Store for distribution to all users.
