Design and Development of a Mobile Application for Wetland Data Collection

Abstract

In the course of the last decades, there has been an indisputable transformation of mobile devices, which has adequately transformed the social as well as technical life style of peoples in India and also used as cast and time saving assets. This paper focuses on the development of mobile application for Wetlands field survey data collection. Wetlands are the sporadic area that welfares ecosystem as these are predominant facet for environment that are covered with water or moist soil. Wetlands, natural and manmade, provide numerous ecological services. They are a critical part of our natural environment. This mobile application helps in reducing the burden of paper-based data gathering. The application uses location-based services (LBS) to show the location on decision support system. The data sent are stored in an integrated database with the developed application. The integration of mobile technology in the field of hydrology, environment, agriculture and natural resources has introduced efficient and easy analysis approaches to simplify research approaches. This paper presents a mobile application that can help in visualising and collection of wetland’s information from ground survey. This application is tested on site to study its effectiveness and efficiency.
