There are about 2.2 billion people with vision impairment or blindness. There are a lot of challenges faced by these blind people in their data to day life. One of the greatest challenges being a physical movement. Blind people need continuous help from other sighted individuals. They find it difficult to move around in high traffic areas or any unfamiliar places. Visually impaired people memorize the area while moving around in familiar places and they also memorize where the things are kept. However, those things if moved to some other place might again cause issues for blind people. White cane is the most popular means blind people use to navigate from one place to another. The with all the technological developments, certain devices have also been developed to help visually impaired people to move freely around in the environment. This paper presents a system for visually impaired people that can detect obstacles in their way and provide safety against the same.
