Abstract

In today’s world need for a robot to serve humanity is expanding and becoming a fixture in our life. This paper presents a novel application of robots in restaurants. The introduction of the autonomous robot at restaurants reduces mistakes and errors caused due to human mishandling at work and congestion at peak hours; it is very time efficient and low cost in implementation. It is a robot used to assist restaurant staff to transfer refreshments from the kitchen to respective tables. The customer places the order through a smartphone or tablet which contains the android application with all the menu details. The kitchen boy prepares the food items, places the food items on the robot’s tray and the robot in the kitchen serves the food. This robot can follow a predefined path like a pathfinder. It uses an IR sensor array for pathway planning in the restaurant to perform its deliberate tasks with precision and accuracy.
