In the present study, the influence of drilling parameters on quality attributes has been investigated while drilling SS304 material under wet conditions. The study material has several applications in the fields of automotive and aerospace industries. Tool type, point angle, speed, and feed have been selected as process parameters for the study. A number of observations have been carried out based on the L18 orthogonal array with coated and un-coated HSS made twisted drills. The experimental results obtained were analyzed by using Taguchi and response surface methodologies (RSM). The results showed that speed has the highest significance for both material removal rate and surface roughness. The optimal combination of process parameters for achieving a higher material removal rate and lower surface roughness has been found at A2-B1-C3-D3 and A1-B2-C3-D3 respectively.
