Abstract

In the present work, optimization of multiple responses (Material Removal Rate & Surface Roughness) was carried out by Taguchi based Utility Approach along with analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). A series of experiments were conducted on AISI202 austenitic stainless steel using taguchi’s L18 Orthogonal Array (OA) for the selected turning parameters of Cutting speed (N), feed (f), depth of Cut (DOC) and nose radius (r). From the optimization results, the optimal combination of process parameters was found at Nose Radius: 0.4 mm; Speed: 1000 RPM; Feed: 0.1 mm/rev; Depth of Cut: 0.9mm respectively. Finally, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was adopted and the results of it revealed that the depth of cut has the highest influence over the multi responses.
