Abstract

In this investigation, we have characterized tensile and wear behaviour of hybrid metal matrix composites (HMMCs). In this probe Al-7075 assisted with zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and graphite (Gr) in various wt%. The mixture of ZrO2 and Gr powders were combined in various wt%. MMCs were formulated by stir casting process. In this present work we have studied Density, micro hardness, tensile and wear properties. All the testes of the specimens were prepared and tested as per ASTM standards. Microstructural study was carried out with optical microscopy (OM) and SEM study analysed on worn surface of the wear samples. Microstructural images revealed the good distribution of ZrO2 and Gr in Al-7075. Density values were raised for composites than Al-7075. Great improvement in micro hardness, tensile and wear properties were revealed and great improvement in composites than Al-7075.
