Abstract

The present study is an attempt to model dry sliding wear of Al-Zn-Gr-SiC composites and wear parameters. The result of wear parameters like applied load, sliding velocity, sliding distance, time, track diameter, and percentages of SiC as 4%, 8%, 12% on the dry sliding wear of composites have been investigated using pin-on-disc test machine. A plan of experiment based on Taguchi, was performed to acquire data in controlled way. An orthogonal array and the analysis of variance were employed to investigate the influence of process parameters on the wear of the composites. The objective was to establish a correlation between inputs and wear parameter. Reinforcement of SiC into matrix alloy improved wear resistance of materials
Applied load and weight percentage of SiC found most contributing parameters.
