Effect of Natural Reinforcements on Mechanical Properties of MMCs Processed by Stir Casting

Natural reinforcements are replacing the existing reinforcement materials due to their properties ranging from economy, properties similarity, light weight, biodegradable etc. These natural reinforcements can be extracted from the renewable energy resources which can be extracted easily by processing through simple steps. Abundant amount of materials are available on the earth crest which can be extracted and can be used as the reinforcement material which serves the applications similar to the existing reinforcement materials interms of mechanical, thermal and wear resistance properties. The exploitation of synthetic materials can be minimized by selecting natural reinforcements. These natural reinforcements are being used in the various manufacturing sectors, automobile areas and aerospace elements especially in the forms of fibres for furnitures, packing, body construction of vehicles. The strength of these materials have been compared with the existing reinforcement materials and these are found to be an promising elements. Various reinforcements can be extracted depending upon the properties to be tailored. This paper highlights some the natural reinforcement materials that are used by various researchers to develop a natural composite material.
