Comparative Thermal Analysis of Rectangular Fins Using Different Aluminum Alloys

Abstract

The work mainly focuses on the performance evaluation of fin by varying materials. The fin of the rectangular configuration is designed using CATIA V5R16 software and the analysis was done using ANSYS 15.0. In this thermal analysis, Al was the base metal for the fin material. The heat transfer performance of fin with the same base, and temperature of different Aluminum alloys is compared. A comparative study has been done between the fin materials of AA 6063 and AA 7068 of Rectangular configuration to find out the best material under steady-state thermal conditions. It has been observed that Aluminum alloy 6063 provides the greatest heat transfer rate.
