Abstract

Solid waste management is the major environmental concerns in our country now a days. The present study shows the use of recycled plastics as a replacement of coarse aggregates in the concrete. Utilization of waste plastic material as aggregate in concrete manufacturing is a partial but effective solution to the environmental and ecological challenges which are associated with the use of plastics. The main aim of this study is to investigate the changes in mechanical properties of concrete with the addition of plastic in concrete. Particle size distribution (PSD) test is conducted on the plastic aggregates. The workability of fresh concrete for both the control and concrete with plastic aggregates is determined using the slump cone test. Cube and prismatic beam of the samples were used to find out the compressive strength and flexural strength of hardened concrete.
