Abstract

The study presents the output on wear resistance of a ceramic coating on Rotary Air Lock (RAL) in a cement plant located in southern part of India. To analyze the wear resistance properties, the observation was conducted in two different rotary air lock components out of one which is coated with a ceramic layer containing 60% Al2O3 and 40% TiO2; the ceramic coating was done by an atmospheric plasma spraying method. The obtained results from the weight loss test of the uncoated rotary airlock device and the coated rotary air lock indicate that the rotary air lock with a ceramic coating is characterized by high wear resistance.
