Abstract

River sand is widely used in construction field for concrete making as a fine aggregate. Increasing use of river sand causing depletion in groundwater level and indiscriminate mining of sand is also damaging the environment. Due to the increase in use of river sand the cost of construction is also increasing and that is not costonomcial, in which transportation cost also leads to increase in cost of river sand. As we know that now-a-days construction activities are on very large scale which leads to increase in use of river sand and increase in cost of river sand. River sand mining is illegal in many areas. A few alternatives are coming up which is eco-friendly and not causing so much damage to the environment which is M-sand or Manufactured sand. M-sand is most eco-friendly and inexpensive as compared to the river sand and is the best alternative to decrease the consumption of river sand or to stop the misleading use of mining in many areas. In the present study fully replacement of river sand with M-sand to achieve the maximum target strength and an admixture is used named fosroc. This will help to achieve target strength by performing compressive strength test. In some state of India river sand is prohibited for the construction use to overcome this problem 100% replacement of river sand with M-sand will be revolutionary.
