Abstract

Foam Concrete is usually referred as aerated or cellular concrete. It is a modern and flexible construction material, which comprises of cement and fine aggregate mixed with air bubbles resulting in a low-density material less than 1800Kg/m3. It becomes a more promising construction material because of its appreciable thermal resistivity properties. Foam concrete incorporating fly ash as a replacement for cement is studied in this paper. About 14% increase in compressive strength was witnessed by adding fly ash (40% weight of cement). Thus, foam concrete blocks of appreciable strength on par with burnt bricks, solid and hollow concrete blocks can be manufactured by using fly ash as a replacement for cement.
