Abstract

Recently, the Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming an extremely significant part of daily life. Because of its rapid development, it has the potential to revolutionize our lives. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of interconnected hardware devices that is rapidly expanding as an increasing number of devices and objects connect to the Internet. The Internet of Things has a wide range of applications, including education, health care, energy conservation, entertainment, fitness, environmental monitoring, and home security, etc. In this paper, particle photon is used to build a low-cost home security system. Multiple sensors are used in this system, including the magnetic reed switch, smoke and gas (MQ5), passive infrared (PIR), light-dependent resistor (LDR), and soil moisture. Furthermore, the proposed system operates in a real-time environment. If there is an unauthorized entry, such as the door is opened, there is a smoke or gas leak, or the garden needs watering, the system will send a notification or email to the homeowner. The homeowner in turn can take the appropriate action after receiving the notification. In this system, the homeowner receives notifications via the Blynk application. The proposed system outperforms the other existing systems by using particle photon instead of Arduino, which is distinguished by its cloud connectivity and WiFi access. It is significantly less expensive than Arduino. Furthermore, it is about the size of a quarter of an Arduino.
