Improved Collaborative Learning Management System

The relationship between lecturers and students is hampered by the fact that their time schedules clash sometimes and that they may not have time to communicate adequately in times of emergency, due to lack of Learning Management Systems. Also, where Learning Management Systems exist, considerations are not made for collaboration, thus, bringing about inconveniences, as a student would have to visit various Learning Management Systems in order to access various Lecturers. Armed with observations and interviews gathered, the researcher developed and implemented an Improved Collaborative Learning Management System (ICLMS). Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology was adopted. Improved Collaborative Learning Management System was designed using internet technology tools like Hypertext markup language (HTML), Php, JavaScript, cascading style sheet (CSS) and structured query language (SQL). The result shows each student having a portal where they can interact with their different lecturers; download attachments sent by their lecturers, and also upload answer to the questions asked by their lecturers. The implementation of this system would enhance Lecturer-Student relationship, as well as improve the way assignments are being handled in higher institutions of learning. The use of this Improved Collaborative Learning Management System will aid in covering up the loopholes created in the existing system. The Improved Collaborative Learning Management System solves the problem of inconvenience, while still making sure that students and lecturers from various departments interact adequately, assignments given and submitted by the Lecturers and Students respectively. This improves interactive teaching and learning and makes learning easy.
