Abstract

GNSS (Global-Navigation-Satellite System) is a satellite navigation system that provides positioning with global coverage, e.g: GPS, GLONASS. IRNSS system will provide real-time positioning and timing services accurately all over India up to a range of 1500km. For a civilian user, the helical antenna is more suitable or suggestable in order to receive IRNSS signals because the satellites transmit circularly polarized signals. Therefore, in this project, a helical antenna is designed at 1176.45MHz and simulated using MATLAB 2017b antenna toolbox. The directivity at the operating frequency is 10.7dBi. The maximum value of directivity (14.8dBi) has occurred at nearly 1.9GHz.
