Abstract

Although fuzzy logic does not always replace conventional control methods, it can be built upon the experience of experts and combined with them. In fact, in many cases, fuzzy control systems make the implementation process easier. In many cities, traffic congestion is a result of an increase in vehicles and a lack of available roads. This has an impact on productivity, efficiency, and energy losses. The traffic signal controller operation methodology at road intersections is one of the main causes of this congestion. Based on fuzzy logic theory, we proposed a fuzzy traffic control system in this paper. By regulating the length of the green phase interval, our suggested system can effectively manage the traffic at the intersection.
