Physico Chemical and Bacteriological Study of Neera River Water at Shirval, Pune (Maharashtra)

Abstract

In our country people from rural area are totally dependent on river water for all their activities. Hence, this water should be pollution free; this is a minimum requirement of every one. And this will be possible, when sewage wastes and chemical effluents will not be thrown in to the river body. From the ancient times people prefer to stay on the bank of rivers, as river can help them in their survival. We have learned that water is a universal solvent. This is a wonderful quality that we take advantage of it for everyday tasks. For the growth of ecosystem water should be pollution free. Here, for this study Neera river water sample was studied in the year 2018 for physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters. Here, BOD and COD are observed beyond the permissible limit given by WHO and BIS.
