Water-bodies across India are in a terrible state and in need of restoration. Floating islands are variation of wetland treatment system for restoration, beautification and quality improvement of water bodies. As part of reviewing how floating island are developed classified and used. This paper examines how pollution is removed from water body using floating islands. Additionally microorganism’s aquatic plants and aquatic animals were discussed as potential purifiers and decontaminators in floating islands. In floating island the aquatic plants used to improve water quality and conserve the environment. This study proposed a floating island, constructed by Clean Water (Sustainable Water Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Indore M.P.), to observe the improvement of water quality and ecological conservation. The site is located at the Nalanda Sarovar, Police Training College, Musakhedi, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. The performance of the floating island water body treatment system was analyzed for more than one year in order to determine its effectiveness. According to the study, floating island is able to improve water quality and ecological conservation along with beautifying the surrounding. The results of the study can also provide valuable data for humans and animals, and contribute to biodiversity conservation and ecological recovery. The floating island seems an eco-friendly and low maintenance solution for restoration and rejuvenation of water resources, which is also highlighted in this paper.
