Abstract

Due to exponential rise in urbanization and industrial revolution across the globe, air pollution has been one of the prominent environmental threats. Different pollutants such as SO2, NO2 etc. which are produced due to different industrial processes and mobility’s ICE leads to threatening life expectancies of all living beings. Inhaling pollution has many hazardous health affects which are well known to all. Thus, it became very crucial in today’s time to have prior information about air quality index (AQI) of any location so as to take appropriate actions in advance. In the present work a detailed discussion on works of different authors in the field of predicting AQI is discussed, along with an alternative proposed solution based on artificial neural network. Such technique has the ability to derive meaningful information from the non-linear data and thus can be helpful in predicting AQI with exceptional accuracy.
