Abstract

Floating columns are aesthetically pleasing
and give more space for movement in the
parking lots of many multi-story structures.
Floating columns are not inherently more
prone to degradation than other types of
structures due to the way they are created.
The arrangement of various sections inside a
structure may present certain design
challenges that need to be carefully
considered to preserve the overall stability
and structural integrity of these parts. This
study examines the drawbacks of floating
columns at different building sites. Models of
the frame structure are analyzed using
STAAD PRO software of the floating columns
at different positions, such as at the centre
and the edge, for multi-story composite
buildings using the structural response of the
building concerning response spectrum
method for different zones to determine
results like storey displacement, periods, and
mode shapes. The performance of the floating
columns outside the composite construction
was superior to that of the floating columns
inside the building.
