Geospatial Technology for a Better Tomorrow

Abstract

Geospatial technology refers to equipment and tools used to measure and analyze Earth's features. It includes photogrammetry, remote sensing, GPS, LiDAR, UAV, GIS etc., to collect digital data of objects. Geospatial technology is a multidisciplinary tool which has many useful applications in smart city, environmental science, healthcare, urban and rural landscapes and transportation. UAVs are now being used for many civilian applications. With the availability of high quality remote sensing images, GPS data, IoT sensors hardware’s and softwares, the technology is currently growing at a rapid pace, helping planners, decision makers and government to analyse big data in several application areas such as urban, transportation, forest fire, agricultural monitoring, disaster relief and much more. Geospatial technology has found applications both public and private sectors. At present, the geospatial technology information has penetrated into several industries and organizations world-wide as it can provide accurate and latest information.
