Abstract

Nylon is the most common fibre which is used in the manufacturing of carpets and these are extreme and flexible fibres. The basic performance and appearance of a carpet depends on the type of fibres used in the manufacturing. For easy cleaning and maintenance, synthetic fibres are treated with static, stain and soil resistant materials. New carpets are always looking and feeling great but to understand the specifications of any carpet the only method to identify is the difference in quality. Three factors like fibre, twist and density control the durability of a carpet. Styles of a carpet vary in arrange of qualities but all are not suited for high traffic. The selection of fibres for carpets controls the durability, look and feel and price also. Specifications for construction do not describe the overall look of any carpet and should not restrict the manufacturing to make a quality product. To achieve high quality woven or tufted carpet heat setting of carpet yarns is a necessary and essential requirement. To reduce noise level further addition of cushion beneath a carpet is essential. For weaving hand knotted carpets is same for all units and is described briefly in the introduction part.
