Abstract

There are many advantages when textiles are used as structural materials in building construction. The important properties of textiles while using in the construction are to resist deformation and extension during tension and also to consider the effect of wind and water. Coated fabrics are use in the construction works and these are exposed to outside conditions hence the ageing factors of the coated fabrics must to be considered. There are two methods of constructing air structures, namely air-supported structures with air pressure inside the envelope and construction with air-inflated ribs. For short and long terms uses membrane structures are also used. There is a basic difference between awning and canopy, which is that the canopy requires a support apart from the anchoring. Single-ply and multi-ply textile structures are used for roofing. For thermal protection of buildings house warp materials are used.
