Abstract

Lightweight concrete is one of the most important structural compounds, used especially as fillers or for the manufacture of heat and sound insulation units, as well as load-bearing structural elements. Natural and artificial porous aggregates are generally used in these types of concrete. One of the natural lightweight aggregates was pumice stone, Pumice stone is a natural lightweight aggregate formed during the rapid cooling of volcanic lava. It can be used as an aggregate for the production of lightweight concrete or as a cementitious material for the production of mixed cement or geopolymer; it has been mainly used in the production of partitions and partitions. The strength requirements for building blocks are commonly set at 2.6MPa for grouting blocks and 5.2MPa for load-bearing blocks. In general cases, the effects of additives, such as crushed gravel, ash, and limestone powder in lightweight aggregate mixtures, are not well known. Therefore, the types of mixture, which affect the compressive strength of the mixture, must be determined through a series of empirical test works. This article focused on studying the effect of pumice aggregate on the properties of lightweight concrete, according to research in previous studies, and the result was obtaining concrete suitable for many construction purposes, excellent thermal insulation, and reduced dead load due to the decrease in the density of concrete.
