Abstract

Researchers are focusing on utilizing the
natural materials to be reinforced while
processing which has shown wide applications
in terms of material functions at various
temperatures. Synthetic materials are proven
to be economical but the synthesis process
makes them be utilized to a limited extent due
to the environmental aspects. Among various
available natural fibers, areca fiber is
inexpensive and abundantly available. The
mechanical behavior of areca composites was
studied by few investigators and they were
found to have good mechanical properties.
Mechanical tests i.e. impact and hardness
tests are performed, the results obtained show
better interfacial adhesion between the fiber
and epoxy resin mechanical properties. The
aim of this research work is to study the effect
of areca fibers in improving the mechanical
properties of the processed composite
materials.
