Abstract

Seat belt is a safety device for the driver and
passenger, which is designed to protect them
when the vehicle is in motion. Seat belt is
considered to be the primary restraint system.
Textile materials are used in the manufacturing
of seat belts. Seat belt is the most well-known and
important safety device. The seat belt is an
energy absorbing device. The seat belts are
designed to a limit of survival capability a victim
depending on the imposed load caused on the
person during any accident of collision. Nylon is
the strongest among all synthetic fibres and has
favourable properties to make seat belts out of it.
Webbing is the part of the seat belt in contact
with passenger that receives and releases the
shock of an impact.
