Now a day’s industry demands more profits with
same investment. Total productive maintenance
(TPM) is useful tool for improving their
productivity. The purpose of this paper is to
implement the total productive maintenance
(TPM) in High pressure die casting foundry.
Productivity will improve with high equipment
availability, which is influenced by equipment
reliability and maintainability. A case study is
taken from an aluminium die casting foundry and
data is recorded for model machine from the last
seven months. From the observed data the losses
were found out and an autonomous maintenance
team is formed for next five months, so as to
increase the overall equipment efficiency with 4.5
percentages. Based on the findings, it was
recommended that a pilot project to be conducted
to implement a TPM program for the aluminium
foundry and expand it further to the other
departments in the company. The primary
benefits of TPM are to awareness of operator
about the machines, team work hence it help to
reduce the losses.
