Abstract

Agro textiles are applications of textile materials
in the agricultural fields. Different techniques are
applied for making agro textile products and
techniques show specific advantages for the
specific product. Various types of textile fabrics
such as nets, sheets, knitted, novel, nonwoven and
coated are applied in agro tech. Due to the high
strength, durability and many other suitable
properties of man-made fibres they are suitable
for agricultural applications. Technical textiles in
agro tech are mostly used in farming animal
husbandry and horticulture to control the
hazardous influences of environmental and
climatic factors on crop production. Selection of
agro textiles is mostly depends on the
geographical location. Due to continuous
increase in population throughout the world
stress on agricultural crops has increased. Agro
textiles provide multidirectional views and
solutions to the agro industry’s problems. Among
synthetic fibres polyolefin fibres are extensively
used. The growing demand for food crops owing
to the increasing consumption is expected to
boost the market growth. The agriculture
applications segment is accounted for largest
market share and is expected to maintain its
dominance in the forecast period.
