Abstract

Modelling is a necessary set of technological
tools and procedures for the proper
implementation of digital manufacturing
since it enables the trial and validation of
product, process, and system design and
configuration. The value of simulation is
evident, particularly in today's dynamic
industrial environment, which is fueled by
megatrends such as globalization and rising
customer expectations for more
individualized and personalized products.
This keynote paper looks at the most
significant turning points in the development
of simulation technologies, as well as
contemporary industrial and research uses
and findings. Based on this evaluation, gaps
in current practices are identified; future
trends and concerns that may arise in the
field are also highlighted. CAx, factory layout
design, material and information flow design,
manufacturing networks design,
manufacturing systems planning and control,
manufacturing networks planning and
control, and augmented and virtual reality in
product and process design, planning, and
verification (ergonomics, robotics, etc.) are
among the simulation methods and tools
under consideration. In this context, several
technologies, industrial applications, and
research findings are examined.
