Mechanical behaviour of AISI 204 austenitic stainless steel is analyzed at 298-873K and also a comparison with that of AISI 304 is done. Room temperature tensile properties are obtained based on an average of properties evaluated on specimens prepared with specimen length axes at 0°, 45° and 90° to sheet rolling direction. Room temperature flow curves are obtained as a function of nickel content and sheet thickness. High temperature tensile properties and flow curves are obtained for 373-873K. YS and UTS are high for low nickel grades. Ductility is high for high nickel grades. Coefficients n and mare same for all grades. YS and UTS decreases with temperature, ductility increases with temperature, and n and m increases with temperature. DSA keeps ductility as maximum at 373K. DSA is more in AISI 204 and hence ductility is reduced in comparison with AISI 304.
