Abstract

Recent advances in the field of distributed sensors/actuators have led to development of new structure. The present technology uses the thermal mechanical properties of piezoelectric materials which exhibits certain special properties during stresses and by electric application. Vibrations are the main cause of cyclic failure of structures. This can be reduced by this mechanical device. In the present study an analysis is carried out to find the damping characters of piezo electric members and extent of reduction. This particular damping is different materials as it directly depends on natural frequency of the system. As a result the obtained governing equations transform into multi-physics problem involving mechanical stress-strain with electromagnetic properties of the piezoelectric.
