In China in the Neolithic period, the production of silk originated, and later on, it reached other places in the world. Silk is called ‘The Queen of Textiles’ due to which it spells luxury, comfort, and eloquence. The cocoons of silkworms give the natural silk and it is made of a protein. Natural silk is an animal silk variety. Silk is obtained from different varieties of silkworms and they have various kinds of qualities with features that allow for making particular garments. The type of silk is related to the region it comes from. The specialty of silk depends on its unique weave, pattern, and design of silk fabric made from the silk of varieties of silkworms. Mulberry silk is the greatest quantity of professional silk produced as compared to other types. For summer clothing, silk is great due to its nature of absorbance and wicking of moisture and at the same time for winter wear it has low conductivity properties. Raw silk fabrics are always woven in white color. The production of silk in China was the pioneer in the development of prominent pre-industrial trade routes. Spun silk is a silk yarn of short lengths of silk waste Pierced cocoon or floss which gives yarns their characteristics of brilliance.
