In this age of connectivity and mobility to enhance user-oriented patterns in daily life, there is an imminent need to apply this concept for traditional industries like Oil & Gas. Fast changes are observed in Oil and Gas Industry by implementing IoT and modern smart technologies. Connectivity by technology is making new advancements and getting new heights. Sensors technologies have provided the arms for sensing various parameters and operations in the industry are getting cheaper and reasonable. Innovative Low Power Technologies and long-lasting batteries are additional benefits to the system. Oil and gas companies are utilizing more sensors for analyzing the performance of equipment and piping components. Gas Leakage and leakage detection is a major concern in the process industry as it leads to wastage of resources and toxicity of the gas is dangerous to the community residing nearby. Gas leakage also increases the fire risk and is hazardous to the human being, in and around the plant. Gas leakage is impacting the environment and this ultimately is leading to global warming. The aim of this paper is to present IoT based Gas Leakage detection system using an MQ2 gas sensor to detect gas leakage integrated with Node MCU ESP8266 microcontroller. DHT11 sensor is integrated to measure temperature and humidity at the location. Data collected from the sensor is sent through the Node MCU ESP8266 Wi-Fi module remotely to ThingSpeak IoT Platform for further analysis.
