Study on Suspension Cable Bridge Using Staad Pro

Abstract

As the need of this bridge is to overcome the traffic, we feel that there is urgent need for the construction of a new bridge over Tungabhadra River. Hence we are designing a bridge which is suitable for medium and large span. Designing of the bridge is to be done keeping in mind the traffic volume, river bed condition, flow of river and other factors related to bridge construction. In this proposed project study on suspension Cable Bridge as to be considered in design of suspension cable are long cables that are offered by an external condition. At first in the analysis we have considered the dead load, live load as per IRC chapter O6 class AA classified loads have been considered and we have analyzed the structure for shear failure, displacement and deflection and later with the help of staad pro bridge design and staad pro software’s we have designed the bridge to withstand the above mentioned load cases and we have tried to design the structure as economical as possible by selecting the optimum members for various cross girders and longitudinal girders.
