Abstract

In the present state of the construction
industry is of utmost importance to find
alternative sources for natural resources, our
work aims at finding an alternative for coarse
aggregate. In the present work coconut shell is
used as a partial replacement of coarse
aggregate in M30 grade concrete is studied.
The characteristics properties of M30 grade
concrete after 28 days of curing are obtained
as compressive strength is 38.8 N/mm2,
flexural strength is 3.48 N/mm2 and split
tensile strength is 2.19N/mm2 which is higher
than the conventional concrete valve’s. We
can achieve the desired strength of M30 grade
concrete by using up to 20 % replacement of
coconut shell for coarse aggregate as per the
test results.
