Tall structures have a particular affinity towards seismic lateral loads due to their shape and the slenderness of the building. The dominance of the lateral loads increases as the height of the structure increases. The lateral loads are so dominant that in some seismic areas these are the termed as loads of particular concern and the shape and the size of the structure is decided merely by these loads. To counter these loads the engineers have developed many different systems around the world some by experience and some by the use of analysis and design software that can predict the behaviour of the structure subjected to different loadings with a great amount of accuracy. This software has given tremendous space for experimentation to the designers and engineers that are always in a hustle to obtain the highest amount of safety, serviceability and functionality out of every structure. This has led to new load resisting systems that provide better lateral load resistance than conventional structures and are also aesthetically pleasing. The Octagrid load resisting system is one such system which provides lateral load resisting capability along with larger column spaces and unobstructed view to the residents.
