Abstract

The present scenario in the construction field of underwater tunnel and bridges are facing several limitations. In order to overcome this, the concept of Suspended Submerged Tunnel can be adopted. As the needs of society for regional growth and protection of environment have assumed increased importance, in this wider context, the Suspended Submerged Tunnel offers new opportunities. This is an innovative concept for crossing waterways, utilising the law of support at a moderate and convenient depth. Here the analysis and design of Suspended Submerged Tunnel is presented wherein analysis is done using Staad.Pro software. Also, the features of the tunnel including the stability, drainage system, ventilation system, suction anchoring method are other safety measures are discussed.
