Abstract

Reinforcement is the most important part of RCC construction. The strength of the RCC member depends upon the bond between concrete and reinforcement bar. The common modes of the failure in the concrete are due to the deboning, crushing, fracture, diagonal cracks etc. This paper reviews different methods available for the study related to detection, cause and maintenance of debonding taking place in the reinforced concrete structure. This review article also discusses the application of the Structural Health Monitoring techniques for the detection of the bond failure.
