Abstract

High-rise Buildings are product of current time and temporary solutions for the problems they create. In recent years, developing countries are emerged as centers for new high-rise buildings like Bangladesh. Land is scarce and way expensive particularly in big cities like Dhaka. Here tall buildings are constructed in a vast number, which represents the best solution for the problem. The density of population in this country compelled the society to make the decision of constructing more high-rise buildings as the horizontal expansion is now so difficult to manoeuvre. With the growing urbanization rate the open space design and vertical construction is mainly executed by high-rise building construction. This paper helps to increase the knowledge for high-rise buildings construction as socially and environmentally sustainable in Bangladesh. Overall picturization of current condition of high-rise buildings in Bangladesh helps the analysts and planners to make a better plan for future construction. The different data related to high-rise building construction illustrates the present scenario and future needs of it. Beyond the high-rise buildings construction figures, the paper encourages to take necessary measures on these terms: Spatial Design, Construction Practice, Resource Management, Maintenance, and Awareness.
