Abstract

There has been an enormous amount of research being carried out in recent years regarding performance of a regular RCC building where the conventional philosophy of design is applied, it works exceptionally well in case of carrying a dead load and live load and by experience throughout the years it has shown several economical ways of designing a structure making them better. But this is not good enough when it comes to seismic performance as there are a lot of after effects such as non-structural damage and tertiary structural damage to the occupants. The construction of high rise building using better and stronger columns and beams has been the conventional approach for years but designers have pointed out that a seismic design approach would be rather logical and comparison this is carried out by using several measures, their performance is judged based on base shear, storey drift and displacements it can be quickly assessed, by using software programs to run fast nonlinear analysis the results are compared and plot on graphs and specific results of the analysis have been obtained.
