Applications of Lean Six Sigma: A Literature Review

Abstract

Day to day because of the global market the expectations of the customers are increasing related to the improvement of quality of the product; decrease in cost and on-time delivery of the product. Therefore, there is tremendous pressure on manufacturing firms to tackle such type of problems and to be competitive in a changing market. However, to face the dynamic market condition and to withstand competition most organizations are using different tools and techniques which are generally used in manufacturing strategy for the improvement of the overall performance of the firm. This paper is based on the Lean Six Sigma literature review and how it can manage the Indian industrial and manufacturing atmosphere by merging the tools and techniques used to implement Lean and Six Sigma. In this paper, the approaches that Indian SMEs be able to adopt to improve excellence in operations management have been discussed.
