Abstract

An extensive overview of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection of nanofluids in various enclosures is presented in this work. The study aims at reviewing the analytical, numerical and experimental studies on MHD mixed convection in several geometries between 2005 and 2020. The previous researches on the subject matter are grouped into regular and irregular shapes, their significant information with identified gaps summarized and presented in table 1 to give a panoramic survey. The outcome of the review study and analyses presented a notable heat transfer augmentation in various enclosures with increasing nanoparticle volume concentrations and some model parameters such as Reynolds number (Re), Richardson number (Ri) and Hartmann number (Ha). This survey can be seen as a significant connection between nanofluids application and heat transfer enhancement in MHD mixed convection in various enclosures. On the other hand, further studies are expected to investigate the effects of nanoparticle volume fractions on MHD mixed convection in different enclosures based on the identified gaps. The survey could be very useful as prediction parameters for designing a more compact, efficient and durable heat exchangers for industrial applications.
