Effects of Tomato Juice among Elderly People

Abstract

Recently, this journal published an article about the favourable effects of tomato juice on the blood pressure levels of a group of hypertensive patients from old age homes in India. Considering the practical importance of the results of the cited evaluation, the present paper aims to add short comments on other novel literature about the role of tomato products in the mechanisms of the immune system to prevent diseases, including cancer. Besides, adverse effects of excessive daily ingestion of the antioxidants were included. The original study of Indian authors surely has increased the interest in these issues.
