Food is one of the essential requirements for humans in health and disease. Good food is a prerequisite for optimal health. Modifications in food can control, prevent specific diseases. Foods rich in one or the other nutrient are helpful in the promotion of health. In India, surveys have been conducted by various organizations that depicted that there is a lack of food for a good percentage of the population and due to which some diseases are at their peak. The food must be made available to all people irrespective of caste, creed, color, and religion. The people should be categorized and food supplies should make available to the poorest of the poor. The social responsibility and human nature of the nurse will ensure her to take the lead to make it possible that nobody goes hungry. The government should also get actively involved by taking the pains though some actions have been taken like prioritizing family in priority households, non-priority households, BPL households, and AAY households. The rate should differ for the categories but not the quality of food. Poor people should not be denied quality food on the pretext of being in lower social strata. The nurse must work in close collaboration with the food and civil supplies department and bring anomalies to the fore. Moreover, they should work in close collaboration with ICDS projects to deliver services to needy beneficiaries. Moreover, Nurse must work with the social welfare department to implement food and nutrition-related schemes under implementation via appropriate authority.
