Keywords:
Geriatrics, old age, socioeconomic, mental health, physical wellbeingAbstract
The objective was to review current information on the relationship between social economic status and health among older people. A traditional review of literature was carried out and relevant articles retrieved through google scholar, PubMed, Science direct and Hinari. This was then read and analyzed. The evidence shows higher social economic status associated with better health in majority of the cases. It is therefore recommended that social economic conditions are assessed and strategies raid by governments and stakeholders on how to combat the effects from an early age. Health care workers and learning institutions can play a major role in educating the community and encouraging savings and investments starting from earlier years in life.
